Use of radio-frequency electromagnetic field energy for soil sterilization

Theoretical fundamentals of soil sterilization by heating in a radio-frequency electromagnetic field are discussed. Dielectric properties of several kinds of soil and peat are obtained. The dielectric constant for soils of all kinds at m.c. of 0-30% and for peat with 0-60% m.c. lies within 1-6, while the loss tangent of the dielectric material varies from 0.03 to 0.6 at a frequency of 13.56 MHz.
