Use of remote sensing in abandoned well assessment

Use of remote sensing in abandoned well assessment

Transactions of the ASAE, American Society of Agricultural Engineers 31(5): 1416-1422

A remote sensing study was made in a 61,800 ha portion of Florida to assess flowing artesian wells. Locations of possible well-sites were obtained by interpretation of aerial color infrared photography. Densitometric analysis of known well-sites produced spectral signatures for comparison with suspected well-sites. Ground investigation of a 1,036 ha portion of the study area was conducted to determine the accuracy of well location.
