Use of repetitive nerve stimulation to assess neuromuscular function in dogs. A test protocol for suspected myasthenia gravis

Use of repetitive nerve stimulation to assess neuromuscular function in dogs. A test protocol for suspected myasthenia gravis

Progress in Veterinary Neurology 1(3): 311-319

Response of the neuromuscular junction to repetitive nerve stimulation was investigated in 14 normal mixed-breed dogs. The ulnar nerve was electrically stimulated with 10 consecutive pulses; and, the compound muscle action potential (CMAP) evoked by each stimulus was recorded from the interosseous muscle of the 3rd digit of the thoracic limb. Stimuli were delivered at rates of 1, 3 and 5 per second (n=14) and 10, 20 and 30/sec (n=6).
