From 77 days old for 42 days, 529 Broad Breasted White Nicholas female turkeys weighing initially about 5342 g, in 2 groups, were kept in summer in pens, 4/msuperscript 2, on woodchip litter at an environmental temperature 26 degrees to 30 degrees C and relative humidity 75 to 90% and given mixed feeds without or with 0.5% sodium bicarbonate replacing part of the maize meal.
