Use of some polyploid varieties of apple in breeding. III. Inheritance of vitamin C content in the fruit after crossing apple varieties of different chromosome number

The results are presented of a study of hybrids obtained by crossing diploid varieties with polyploid varieties rich in ascorbic acid. Favourable and unfavourable transgression for ascorbic acid content was seen in hybrids with the mixoploid Kola (2x-5x). The difference between triploid and tetraploid seedlings in the trait was not significant. F1 hybrids with the triploid Zimnee Prevoskhodnoe were intermediate between their parents in the character.
