Use of the aggregation pheromone preparation 'Ipslure' against the Mediterranean pine bark-beetle Ips (Orthotomicus) erosus (Woll.) (Col., Scolytidae)

Anzeiger fur Schadlingskunde, Pflanzenschutz, Umweltschutz 60(5): 94-95

Traps containing 1500 mg Ipslure (a mixture of ipsdienol, 2-methyl-3-buten-2-ol and cis-verbenol) were placed in 6 parts of the Izmir National Forest for the control of Ips erosus a pest of Pinus brutia in the Mediterranean, Aegean and Marmara regions of Turkey. Catches in 34 traps in July-August 1984 totalled 2 294 881 adults, with twice as many females as males. Catches in 5 traps baited only with ipsdienol, totalled 19 384.
