In 1988, in Bavaria, 25 088 piglets were tested for halothane susceptibility, and the creatine kinase (CK) test was carried out on 17 488 gilts ; of the tested gilts, 74% were halothane-negative and 65% had a creatine kinase (CK) value of <3.0. The incidence of halothane- negative offspring was 86, 79 and 73% for 6, 18 and 11 tested AI boars with CK values of <2.7, 2.7-3.0 and >3.0 resp.
