Use of the patatin promoter to direct the expression of foreign genes to tubers in transgenic potato plants

Use of the patatin promoter to direct the expression of foreign genes to tubers in transgenic potato plants

American Potato Journal 65(8): 495

Two classes and several subclasses of genes were isolated for the major tuber protein patatin. The promoters from these genes were fused to the bacterial reporter gene beta -glucuronidase (GUS) and re-introduced into plants using a rapid high efficiency Ti-plasmid-based gene transfer system.
