Use of waste water from the power plant of Castellon for warming greenhouse soils

Utilization of waste water from a power station at Castellon, Spain, for heating greenhouse soils is reported. Hot water is supplied via underground piping. Effects of water temp., flow rate and pipe layout on the precocity and output of a number of horticultural crops were evaluated. Tomatoes and strawberries matured 20 d earlier than non-heated crops, with 20-30% heavier yields.
