The success of seed multiplication programmes depends on a range of factors: (1) quality or agronomic characteristics of seed, (2) availability of several varieties to allow adoption under different socioeconomic and agro-ecological conditions, (3) the accompanying technology package (recommendations for fertilizer use, planting density, etc.), (4) knowledge of seed production techniques, and (5) the delivery system.
