Uses of multipurpose trees on the small farms of the low-rainfall Ganges floodplain soils of Bangladesh



Multipurpose tree species for small farm use Proceedings of an international workshop held November 2-5, 1987 in Pattaya, Thailand: 31-47



Using a predesigned questionnaire, a survey was conducted to determine the distribution and uses of multipurpose trees, tree/crop interactions, and the crafts/cottage industries these trees support. Detailed data are tabulated from the survey. Acacia nilotica, A. catechu, Artocarpus heterophyllus, Phoenix sylvestris, Borassus flabellifer and Mangifera indica were the major tree species grown on the croplands of the area for fruit, timber, fuel, and building material.
