Using cultivar and environment interactions to select a wheat variety

Arkansas Farm Research 38(1): 11

Using yield data from the Arkansas Wheat Variety Test (1982-87), linear models depicting the interaction between a cultivar and the environment were determined for 31 commercial cultivars. The model for each cultivar was constructed by regressing its yield on the grand mean of all cultivars in the test. By grouping all 31 models together, it was possible to identify the cultivars best suited for any environment with an index between 20 and 85 bushels/acre.
