Using insect sounds to estimate and monitor their populations



Florida Entomologist 71(4): 416-426



The use of acoustic signals produced by insects and the feasibility of using these signals to census populations are discussed. It is concluded that where exact counts are not necessary, monitoring the sounds of insects can provide much information about the life history of a species.
