Using oil radish in the control of beet eelworm (Heterodera schachtii (Schmidt))

Pot trials were conducted to study the influence of oil radish (using the resistant cultivars Pegletta and Nemex) on populations of H. schachtii. Oil radish was found to influence the number of live and dead larvae in the cysts; the mortality of the larvae rose with an increase in larvae number in the cysts. The infestation of the field with the pests, which can vary considerably within one farm, must be determined before the resistant varieties are used.
