Using the literature on tourism: a personal perspective

The last decade or so has seen a marked explosion in the literature on tourism, with contributions being made from an increasing number of disciplines and material on tourism appearing in an ever widening range of publications. The paper attempts to examine these issues by analysing 600 references cited in a forthcoming second edition of a wide-ranging book on tourism development.
