Using the missing elements technique for investigating the cocoa nutrient disorder at the Pabatu estate

The trials indicated that Ca and Mg deficiencies in the plants were due to nutrient imbalance in the soil, (high K content). Ca deficiency manifested itself by leaf edge scorching and Mg deficiency by interveinal chlorosis. The addition of dolomite (18% MgO and 30% CaO) increased the soil and plant Mg and Ca contents, and increased root DW by 20% and plant DM production by 61%.
