Fungicides which inhibit sterol biosynthesis (SBI) have been used in Hungary for control of wheat powdery mildew (Erysiphe graminis f.sp. tritici) since 1978. Mildew populations were tested during 1986 and 1987 for their sensitivity to several SBI inhibitors, and isolates with reduced sensitivity, to prochloraz and triadimefon were detected.
