Yield components in intersubspecific maize hybrids for grain

In tests of 3 single interline hybrids obtained by crossing the dent maternal line B73 with the popcorn line F576, the sweetcorn line 71-22-I3 and the line 75/354 containing a mixture of dent maize and popcorn germplasm, the hybrids formed an average of 148-204 ears/100 plants (33.3-83.8% more than in the dent control H708). The length of the first ear on 2-eared plants was equal or superior to that on single- eared ones.
