Yield performance of durum wheat (Triticum durum) as compared with soft wheat (Triticum aestivum ssp. aestivum) under marginal conditions for durum wheat cultivation

Yield performance of durum wheat (Triticum durum) as compared with soft wheat (Triticum aestivum ssp. aestivum) under marginal conditions for durum wheat cultivation

Bodenkultur 40(2): 119-133

In field trials at Ihinger Hof in 1984-86, durum wheat Windur and soft wheat Rektor and Okapi were sown in autumn and durum wheat Mondur and Primadur and soft wheat Max and Sokrates in spring, in drills or bands 14.5 cm apart, at 250 or 500 germinable seeds/msuperscript 2, and given 180 kg N/ha in 3 or 4 split applications. Durum wheat produced fewer grains/msuperscript 2 than soft wheat.
