The 1st of 2 studies compared 21 swamp and 14 Murrah buffaloes in one location and 26 swamp and 8 Murrah buffaloes in another location. The percentage showing resumption of postpartum ovulation (as detected by progesterone assays) <120 days after calving was 38.1 and 35.7 in the 2 breeds resp. in location 1, and 61.5 and 62.5 in location 2. In the 2nd study, the body weight of groups of 7-25 buffalo calves of each sex of swamp and Murrah X swamp types was compared in 2 locations.
