A note on the post-aestivation biology of Bulinus rohlfsi (Clessin), an intermediate host of Schistosoma haematobium (Bilharz) in northern Nigeria

A note on the post-aestivation biology of Bulinus rohlfsi (Clessin), an intermediate host of Schistosoma haematobium (Bilharz) in northern Nigeria

Annals of Tropical Medicine and Parasitology 84(5): 535-536

The rate of egg output by 30 post-aestivation B. rohlfsi was significantly higher than that by 30 non-aestivated B. rohlfsi from week 2 to week 8 of observation. Aestivated snails consumed food at a greater rate, and also grew faster (based on shell length) during weeks one to 4.
