Abstract
A 'sedimeter', developed for the estimation of sediment transport and deposition under marine conditions, is described. It consists of a transparent (acrylic) tube, equipped with infra-red optical backscatter detectors at 10 mm intervals so as to give overlapping measurement zones. The relative elevation of the instrument's location is measured at a given time-interval and registered in a data logger.
