After-hours controlled natural mating

After-hours controlled natural mating

American Bee Journal 131(5): 328-332

The procedures used for production of drones and queen cells are described. A mating set-up with Buckfast drones and Buckfast virgin queens in the same unit proved to be labour-intensive and is not recommended. In a set-up with the drones and 21 virgin queens in separate units, all were confined during the daytime by excluders over the entrances.
