Agricultural Situation in India 46(7): 497-500



Agriculture continues to be a primary occupation in India, in addition to being the most important source of income. This article evaluates India's position in the global agricultural economy and suggests ways in which that position can be improved. Separate sections of the article discuss future strategies for agricultural education, watershed management, pest control, price policy, marketing, credit, farm mechanization, agro-processing, agroforestry, sericulture, and dairy development.
