Agronomic studies on seedling emergence in two-rowed barley. III. Soil resistance and seedling emergence

Agronomic studies on seedling emergence in two-rowed barley. III. Soil resistance and seedling emergence

Nogaku Kenkyu 62(2): 95-105

Two-rowed barley, maize, soyabeans, azuki beans peas and mung beans were sown beneath layers of soil compacted to hardnesses of 0-0.6 kg/cmsuperscript 3. With a hardness of 0.1 kg/cmsuperscript 3 emergence was greater in maize than in the other species; some maize plants emerged at 0.3 kg/cmsuperscript 3 but none of the other species emerged.
