Automatic environment monitoring and regulating system for crop cultivation - development of automatic monitoring system

An automatic system is described which monitors environmental factors for crop growth. This system is composed of a personal computer, an A/D converter, and sensor units. Measured variables are shrinkage rates of a crop stem, soil matric potentials, temperatures, humidities and radiation. The stem shrinkage rate is linearly related to crop water potential. Therefore, the internal crop water condition can be estimated by this system. Soil matric potentials are measured by automatic tensiometer.
