Barley yellow dwarf virus infection of the Gramineae in Tasmania

Acta Phytopathologica et Entomologica Hungarica 26(1-2): 21-26

Barley yellow dwarf virus infection of the Gramineae in Tasmania

The spread of barley yellow dwarf luteovirus (BYDV) to annual and perennial grasses in Tasmania, Australia, is discussed. Whether the types of BYDV found on various hosts correlates with a botanical classification of the Gramineae is examined. A list of aphids with their natural Gramineae hosts found in Tasmania and definition of their behaviour as vectors are presented.
