Bio-chemical basis for root-regeneration in ringed shoot cuttings of cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.) plants of different ages - auxin activity and carbohydrate contents

The preparation of cuttings is described by the authors elsewhere (see Journal of Plantation Crops (1988) 17 (1) 65-68). The cuttings were taken from 4-, 8- and 16-year-old trees. Before planting, the basal 3 cm portion of the cuttings was analysed for auxin activity. Data are tabulated on rooting %, number of roots/cutting, the content of reducing, non-reducing and total sugars, and of total N.
