The effect of cycloheximide on the biochemistry of maize seedlings was investigated. Giza-2 maize seeds were germinated in special plastic pots filled with 25% strength solution (Holland nutrient solution) and different concn of cycloheximide (10-7, 2.5 x 10-7, 5 x 10-7, 10-6 M/litre) for 7 d. Plant samples were harvested and analysed to evaluate the change in plant pigment formation and in carbohydrate level. Potassium depletion from water culture was determined by AAS.
