Biochemical polymorphism in varietal populations of cotton

Problemy teoreticheskoi i prikladnoi genetiki v Kazakhstane: Materialy Res ikanskoi konferentsii, Alma Ata, 18-22 noyabrya, 1990: 71-72

PAGE was used to analyse the albumins, non-specific esterases and glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase (aspartate aminotransferase) in air-dried seeds of 15 varietal populations of 13 Gossypium hirsutum varieties released in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. The varieties differed in heterozygosity at the enzyme loci Alb1, Est1 and Got3. The cross pollination percentage, calculated from the coefficient of inbreeding, varied widely, with a mean value of 25.4% over the 15 populations.
