Biocontrol of seed-borne Alternaria radicina on carrots by antagonistic Bacillus subtilis

Biocontrol of seed-borne Alternaria radicina on carrots by antagonistic Bacillus subtilis

Bulletin SROP 14(8): 73-76

B. subtilis str. T99 improved carrot seed germination and seedling health in the presence of seedborne A. radicina. Str. T99 was applied by soaking carrot seeds in bacterial suspensions. Application of small amounts of metiram (as Polyram-Combi) and iprodione (as Rovral) enhanced the effectiveness of T99 in model and field experiments. However, this treatment was less effective in field experiments under high inoculum pressure due to wet soil conditions.
