In a 5 x 5 Latin square design with 7-day periods, female Japanese Saanen goats, 15-17 months old and 35-52 kg liveweight, were fed on a basal diet supplemented with DL-methionine 0, 4.5 or 9.0 g/day, or rumen protected methionine (RPM: containing 30% DL-methionine) as beads 5 g/day or RPM as pellets 5 g/day.
