Bionomics of rice leaffolder, Cnaphalocrocis medinalis Guenee. (Pyralidae, Lepidoptera)

Bionomics of rice leaffolder, Cnaphalocrocis medinalis Guenee. (Pyralidae, Lepidoptera)

Orissa Journal of Agricultural Research 3( 2): 130-135

The biology of Cnaphalocrocis medinalis was studied in the laboratory at 80.5-87.0 degrees C. Adult females laid eggs during the night. The eggs were yellowish-white in colour. The incubation period was 3.5-4.0 days. Larvae had 5 instars and the total duration ranged from 14.0 to 18.5 days. The mean duration of the male and female pupal period was 6.58+or-0.6 and 6.56+or-0.43 days, resp. The male:female ratio was 3:2.
