Breeding yellow-seeded turnip rape and swede rape varieties of the 000 type

Breeding yellow-seeded turnip rape and swede rape varieties of the 000 type

Doklady Vsesoyuznoi Ordena Lenina i Ordena Trudovogo Krasnogo Znameni Akademii Sel' skokhozyaistvennykh Nauk im VI Lenina ( 10): 25-28

The first Soviet spring turnip-rape varieties of this type, Vostochnaya and Yantarnaya, were bred by many cycles of individual/family selection in varietal and intraspecific hybrid populations. Source material for breeding new spring swede rape varieties of this type was produced by induced mutation (treatment of the brown-seeded K4984 with gamma rays at 50-150 kR).
