Calibrating a tomographic scanner

, : Calibrating a tomographic scanner. Paper American Society of Agricultural Engineers ( 90-3537): 21 pp.

Soil factors affecting the x-ray absorption coeff. were investigated. Based on a theoretical analysis, experimental data from 5 soils and results of several other investigators, it was concluded that for many applications, a calibration relationship between soil properties and the x-ray absorption coeff. is applicable to a wide range of soils. The montmorillinitic clay soil used in the study required special handling due to the extreme shrinkage of this soil on drying.
