Calmodulin is a subunit of lysine sensitive isoenzyme of aspartate kinase from plants

, : Calmodulin is a subunit of lysine sensitive isoenzyme of aspartate kinase from plants. Proceedings of the International Congress of Plant Physiology, New Delhi, India 15-20 February, 1988 Volume 1: 700-704

The lysine sensitive isoenzyme of aspartate kinase was purified 450-fold from spinach leaves. The enzyme with a specific activity of 920 units/mg protein and MW of 300 kDa was resolved into its subunits using 4 M urea. The smaller subunit (17 kDa) showed molecular properties identical to those of calmodulin. The subunit activated other calmodulin-responding enzymes.

In order to assess the toxicity of Hg to P. vulgaris (Say), the LC50 of the tested population in a 24-h period for HgCl2 [mercuric chloride] and MeHgCl were determined. The LC50 values were approximately 400 ppb Hg for HgCl2 and 125 ppb Hg for MeH...
