Hyaena disease was diagnosed in 1 male and 7 female Polish Black-and-White Lowland calves born in September and October 1988. Shortened hindquarters were noticed when the animals were 3 months old. Radiography revealed osteodystrophia fibrosa in femurs and tibias. An increase of P and Fe concn was observed in blood serum and fodder. A decrease in Mn concn in hair, liver and soil and Mn and Ni concn in fodder, were also noted.
