Can agriculture be a dynamic growth factor for underdeveloped countries?

Agricultura em Sao Paulo 37(1): 159-181
Can agriculture be a dynamic growth factor for underdeveloped countries?
The question of whether or not agriculture can be considered a dynamic growth factor for underdeveloped countries is discussed. Three elements which greatly limit agricultural growth are considered: natural resources (soil and climate); the impossibility of overcoming these limitations with research; and price restrictions for agricultural products in the internal and external markets. An appendix is included which discusses some elements of soil sciences.
