, : Candida lusitaniae infection in the newborn: case report and review of the literature. Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal 11(10): 878-880

A case of C. lusitaniae fungaemia and urinary tract infection is reported in a male twin neonate. Despite 10 d of intravenous amphotericin B (0.5 mg/kg daily) therapy, C. lusitaniae continued to be cultured from urine specimens. Bladder washings with amphotericin B were also unsuccessful. Based on in vitro susceptibility results, oral ketoconazole (9 mg/kg daily, divided every 6 h) and flucytosine (75 mg/kg daily, divided every 6 h) were administered for 4 wks.
