Canine hypothyroidism. Part II. Thyroid function tests and treatment

Canine hypothyroidism. Part II. Thyroid function tests and treatment
Because clinical findings and routine laboratory tests are inadequate to make a definitive diagnosis, thyroid function tests are extremely important in confirming the presence of hypothyroidism. Resting total thyroxine and the thyroxine response to thyrotropin administration are the most reliable tests of thyroid function, although many factors can alter these tests (systemic illness, stress and administration of various drugs).
