Canopy gaps in forest ecosystems. A symposium held in Columbus, Ohio, August 1987

, : Canopy gaps in forest ecosystems. A symposium held in Columbus, Ohio, August 1987. Canadian Journal of Forest Research 20(5): 617-667

Five papers originally contributed to a symposium sponsored by the Ecological Society of America, the Association for Tropical Biology, and the Organization for Tropical Studies on the occasion of their annual meetings at Ohio State University. One of the main objectives of the symposium was to compare gap processes in different forest ecosystems; a second objective was to describe the important components of tree replacement processes in each system.

Choice of the substrates of different colors during oviposition of w, st, bw, st/bw, tx and e mutant stocks of D. melanogaster were studied. Colors tested were: blue, yellow, green and red. Two series of experiment were done in population cages, 1...

The graft union was usually completed during the rooting period which...

Filin, Ido; Ziv, Yaron, 2004: New theory of insular evolution: Unifying the loss of dispersability and body-mass change. Loss of dispersability and body-mass change (dwarfism and gigantism) are two common phenomena on islands. Based on Skellam's (1951) theory of dispersal, we suggest a new theory of insular evolution that connects isolation and island size to d...
