Capacity of different tissues of strawberry plants to form callus

Memoirs of the Faculty of Agriculture of Kinki University ( 24): 47-51
Capacity of different tissues of strawberry plants to form callus
In experiments with cultivars Nyohou, Toyonoka and Houkouwase, runner meristems, anthers and filaments were cultured on MS medium. Anthers of Houkouwase and Nyohou formed callus more readily than their meristems or filaments, but filaments of Toyonaka formed callus more readily than its meristems. In anther cultures, callus formation was best on media containing low BA (0.2 p.p.m.) and high auxin (2.0 p.p.m. NAA or 2,4-D) concentrations, or high kinetin (2.0 p.p.m.) and low auxin (0.2 p.p.m.).
