In 1991, approx. 45% of the 219 181 milk-recorded goats in 981 of the 20 540 flocks in France were affiliated to Caprigene France. This organisation was set up recently, and aims to co-ordinate various aspects of goat breeding, with special emphasis on genetic improvement.
