Capsidiol production in pepper plants associated with age-related resistance to Phytophthora capsici


, : Capsidiol production in pepper plants associated with age-related resistance to Phytophthora capsici. Korean Journal of Plant Pathology 6(2): 193-200

Stems, roots and fruits of Capsicum annuum cultivars at different growth stages were inoculated with zoospore suspensions of the pathogen. The concn of capsidiol in infected organs was correlated with the degree of resistance expressed. In comparable infected organs, the resistant Kingkun always contained more capsidiol than the susceptible Hanbyul. Both cultivars accumulated more capsidiol and became increasingly resistant as plants matured.
