Changes in diam. m.a.i. of P. silvestris between 1972-76 and 1977-81 were measured in stands aged approx. 30 yr (age class II) and 80 yr (age class IV/V) and expressed as an 'increment dynamics index' (Wdzd) or the ratio of m.a.i. in 1977-81:1972-76. Av. indices for the 2 age classes were similar. Indices were used to produce maps of the forest showing the extent of reduction in increment through industrial pollution.
