Combining ability analysis for resistance to Helminthosporium turcicum leaf blight in maize (Zea mays L.)

Three H. turcicum resistant inbred lines, PTR, Ade C and RWF9, and 3 susceptible inbred lines, CM202, W. Local and CM600, were crossed in all combinations. Each of the 6 inbreds and their 15 F1's were sown in 2 replications in 1983. Artificial epiphytotic conditions were created by introduction of diseased leaf material followed by spraying with a spore suspension (5 inoculations) in 1984.
