Combining ability of inbred lines derived from CIMMYT maize (Zea mays L.) germplasm

To examine the combining ability effects of lines derived from populations and pools at the International Maize amd Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) and by comparing the results with the population cross data, to further elucidate the heterotic patterns of CIMMYT maize germplasm, 58 S3 lines were selected from different populations and pools based on per se performance and divided into 6 diallel sets. Each set included 8 to 11 lines derived from 2 or 3 populations.
