ISSN/ISBN: 0958-3157

Good control of 2nd- and 3rd-instar larvae of Spodoptera exempta was obtained in cereal (Cynodon, wheat and maize) fields in Kenya in 1988-89 using spray application of powder preparations of different Bacillus thuringiensis strains (subspp. entomocidus and aizawai and a new isolate). These preparations also protected cereal crops from damage caused by 4th- to 6th-instar larvae, but lower larval mortality rates (50-80%) were obtained.
