Control of the composition of the nutrient solution in an automated NFT system: A simulation study

A simulation model was developed to follow the change in concentration of macronutrients in an automated NFT (nutrient film technique) system equipped with ion-selective electrodes. The main emphasis was on the effect of random measurement errors. It was assumed that the cumulative uptake of each macronutrient is given by a logistic model. The measured concentrations were simulated by assuming that they are normally distributed around the true concentration.
