Cytogenetic characteristics of callus tissue and plant regenerants of intergeneric barley hybrids

Cytogenetic characteristics of callus tissue and plant regenerants of intergeneric barley hybrids

Tsitogenetika zernovykh kul' tur: 79-84

When young ears of barley-rye and barley-wheat hybrids were cultured on B5 medium with 2,4-D (2-3 mg/litre), the callus obtained consisted mainly of cells with the same chromosome number as the initial hybrids, despite the occurrence of some haploid, aneuploid and polyploid cells. Regenerated plants included aneuploids, haploids and polyploids. Plants that headed were mainly those with the chromosome number of the initial hybrids.
